Northern United RFC invites you to join a multi cultural Whanau Club. Since the Amalgamation of the Porirua and Titahi Bay Rugby Clubs in 1990 Norths have built a reputation based on playing success and family based values.
Our Premier Team currently holds the Jubilee Cup, Swindale Shield and Bill Brien Cup. Our Women’s Team were unlucky finalists in 2006 Victoria Tavern Trophy competition, but held this trophy from 2002-05. We have a strong Premier 2 Team who gained promotion to play in the Hardham Cup for the fourth consecutive year. Our current Under 21 Team won their Division and together with our new U19 Team they will receive strong support from the club in 2007. Our Senior 2nd & 3rds along with three Presidents teams all provide support and a positive & progressive atmosphere for our young players and new members.
In 2006 Northern United was honored to have its first All Black captain in Jerry Collins. Other representatives are: Tamati Ellison, (NZ 7s Gold medalist, Jnr All Black, Hurricanes and Wgtn Lions); John Schwalger Jnr, (All Black, Hurricanes and Wgtn Lions); Serge Lilo, (NZ Colt, Hurricanes and Wgtn Lions); Faifili Levave,(NZ Colt Trialist, Hurricanes and Wgtn Lions training squads); Api Naikatini, (NZ Colt Trialist, Lions Training Squad and Wgtn U21s); Anarae Koliavu, (Wgtn Lions Squad); Sinoti Toomaga, (Wellington U21s and Wgtn XV); Adam Beganovich, Anthony Masina, Anthony Perenise, Rob Aloe, (all Wellington XV); Adam Vardy, (Cook Islands 7s and 15s National Team); John Fata, (Wellington U21s); Jessica Saolele, Diana Sipili, Lisa Salanoa, Vanessa Chongnee, Ainslie Sauvao, (all selected in the Manu Sina Samoan Women’s World Cup Squad for the tournament in Canada).
Northern United clubrooms are situated at Porirua Trust Park with full bar and kitchen services available. There is a Big Screen to enjoy Super 14, International and domestic games.
Northern United’s summer programme leading into the 2007 season will include fitness assessments and programmes, provided by our professional club fitness trainer and Porirua City Fitness. Cross-training is also planned with Dragon Boats and Waka Ama.? Norths’ 7s teams will contest the Ambassador Trophy and other invitational 7s and 10s tournaments. Skills trainings will also be available involving invited coaches and representative players.
Northern United RFC is proud of its association with Viard, Porirua, Mana and Aotea Colleges. Norths believe it provides a positive environment for youth in our community and welcomes all players and supporters to join us in 2007 season.
