Wellington Pride and Samoans sides in action tomorrow

The Wellington Pride and the Wellington Samoans are the two representative teams in action tomorrow, as the fifteens season winds down.

The Wellington Pride play Waikato at Westpac Stadium in the penultimate round of the Women's NPC competition and the Wellington Samoans meet the visiting Auckland U21s team in a one-off fixture at Porirua Park.

In the curtain-raiser of the Ricoh Wellington Lions versus North Harbour match, the Pride kick off at 12.00 pm. With two rounds to play, the Pride are out of contention of finishing inside the top two and making the Women's NPC final, so are hoping to return from their bye and finish their season off well against Waikato in this match and against the Hawke's Bay Tuis next week at Porirua Park.

The visiting Waikato team, in contrast, are in third and eyeing up a bonus point win over the Pride and the chance to move ahead of Canterbury into a final position. Second placed Canterbury plays fifth placed Counties Manukau away and then plays leaders Auckland in the last round, presenting Waikato with the motivation to win in Wellington.

Poneke's Galu Taufale will once again captain the Wellington Samoans side, at blindside flanker, while Hutt Old Boys Marist's Brandyn Laursen is at first five-eighth. Laursen missed the entire club season this year playing overseas.

The Wellington Samoans will look to continue their late season form and finish with a flourish against an Auckland Colts side featuring several prominent up and coming club and representative players.

The Auckland U21s have so far played seven, won three and lost four of their matches, including a defeat last weekend to Canterbury U20.

The Wellington Development XV was scheduled to be playing Bay of Plenty Development at Taupo, but the latter has pulled out citing an inability to field a team.

In other rugby tomorrow, there's a warm-up college tournament at Naenae College tomorrow from 9.00 am to 12.40 pm, ahead of the Condor Sevens qualifying tournament there on Labour Day Monday.

The schools involved are St Pat's Silverstream, Wellington College, St Pat's Town, Rongotai College, St Bernard's College, Porirua College, Tawa College and Kapiti College in the two boys divisions and Porirua College, Wellington East, Taita College and St. Catherine's Colleges in the girls section.
